Scholarship Writing Contest

About the 2024 Contest

The overarching mission of the Nevada Center for Humanity’s Upstander Scholarship Writing Contest is that, through the process of the contest, students will better learn about themselves and their own sense of agency. Our hope is that they learn by example—through stories of extraordinary rescue by ordinary individuals—to transition from bystander to Upstander as it pertains to their daily lives.

The 2024 students will be writing on the subject of Propaganda during WWII and creating parallels with the use of propaganda today. Thousands of dollars in scholarship dollars will be awarded this year. Words Matter!

“The propagandist's purpose is to make one set of people forget that certain other sets of people are human.”

— Aldous Huxley
